Survivors: wife, Marjorie; sister, Betty Brinkman, Dorothy Munson, both Lincoln, Barbara Laughlin, Omaha, Marjorie Culp, Chula Vista, Calif.; nieces; nephews. Stephen Samuel Case, 101, Olathe, Kan., died Nov. 12, 2006. Born, Sutton, July 2, 1905. Our beloved father and grandfather lived a frugal life with a variety of interests, living in his own home until age 97 in Lincoln. He was a proud member of the Descendants of the Mayflower, Sons of the American Revolution, and had attained the distinction of Master Gardener. He also served as a member of the Lincoln-Lancaster and State of Nebraska Commissions on Aging, and was active in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln and Senior Diners Club. Survivors: daughters, son-in-law, Gwen and Raymond Lemke, Plattsmouth, Barbara Goodrick, Overland Park, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: wife of 64 years, Dolores Johnson; three children, Jacqueline Wiseman, Yvonne (infant), Stephen Case Jr.; great granddaughters, Mallory Epperson and Vivian Lemke; five sisters; two brothers. Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Inurnment: Lincoln Memorial Park. Board of Assistants to Meet
The Nebraska Society's Board of Assistants will meet prior to the Annual Meeting, at 11:30 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 19. The Annual Meeting begins at 1 p.m. at The Knolls Country Club, 2201 Old Cheney Road, Lincoln. All board members are urged to attend.

Gail Warren Ring, 71, Dies
Gail Warren Ring, 71, a member of the Nebraska Society of Mayflower Descendants since 1978 has died. He was a descendant of Stephen Hopkins and served the Nebraska Society as Governor from 1987 to 1988.

RING-Gail Warren, age 71, Missouri Valley, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Dolores (of 49 years) and children Darla, Lyle and Paul (Karen). Gail retired from Vickers, Inc. of Omaha in 1996 where he was employed for over 37 years.
VISITATION will be at Hennessy -Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley on June 13 at 7 p.m.

Longtime Member & Former Governor Dies
Longtime Nebraska Society member E. Thomas Gumbert, 82, died May 11 in St. Joseph, Mo. A descendant of Pilgrim John Alden, he joined the Nebraska Society in 1963. He served as Governor of the Nebraska Society from 1969 to 1971.

GUMBERT-E. Thomas, 82, St. Joseph, Mo., died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at his home after battling lung cancer. Born April 3, 1924 in St. Joseph, he lived in Tampa, Fla., and Omaha until returning to St. Joseph. He graduated from Central High School; Westminster College in Fulton, Mo.; received an MBA from the University of Chicago. In 1982, he married Angela Pavetti Sharpe, who survives of the home.
Mr. Gumbert owned and operated the Gumbert Executive Exchange in Omaha from 1954-1979 and Gumbert Exchange in St. Joseph from 1979 until his death. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he served as an usher; he was past District Governor and past President of the St. Joseph Toastmasters #1439; member and past Governor of the Nebraska Society of Mayflower Decendents, Omaha; member of the St. Joseph Writers' Guild in St. Joseph; St. Joseph Lodge #78 A.F & A.M; Moila Shrine Temple; he was a Thirty-second Degree Scottish Rite Mason; founder of the Midwest Winemaking Society of Omaha; and he was an avid traveler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Albert and Winifred Beatrice (Estes) Gumbert. Survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Sowada, Odessa, Fla., Cynthia Parshall, Tampa, Fla., Dr. Shirley "Sha" Gumbert Balizet, San Antonio, Texas; sister, Patricia Hollabaugh, Lubbock, Texas; five grandchildren, Dan Parshall, Sarah Goff, Angie Dickson, Carly Sowada and Joseph Sowada; and two great grandchildren, Ethan Dickson and Evangelina Goff.
Services 1 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Private Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
